All-on-6 Implants

A full arch of fixed teeth supported by six implants.

All-on-6 replaces all teeth of one jaw with a fixed bridge supported by six dental implants. The two additional implants distribute chewing forces over more support points, which can be an advantage when bone volume allows.

Treatment overview

As with All-on-4, a temporary fixed bridge is often fitted soon after surgery and the final bridge follows after the implants have integrated with the bone.

Common purposes

  • Replacing all missing or failing teeth in one jaw
  • A fixed alternative to a removable denture
  • Spreading chewing load across more implants
  • Restoring chewing function and appearance

Who may be suitable?

  • Adults missing most or all teeth in a jaw
  • People with bone volume sufficient for six implants
  • Non-smokers, or those able to stop as advised
  • People with well-controlled general health conditions

Suitability is always decided by a specialist after reviewing your health and examining you.

Treatment process

  1. 01

    Before treatment

You share a recent panoramic X-ray or 3D scan and your medical history. In-clinic imaging confirms whether the bone supports six implants or whether All-on-4 is the more suitable plan.

  2. 02

    Treatment day

Under local anaesthesia, usually with sedation, failing teeth are removed if needed and six implants are placed. A temporary fixed bridge is often fitted the same day or within days.

  3. 03

    After treatment

Swelling and mild discomfort are common early on. A soft diet is required during the months of implant-bone integration.

  4. 04

    Follow-up

After healing, impressions are taken for the final bridge. Long-term annual check-ups and professional cleaning are recommended.

Expectations & recovery

01

Light daily activities usually resume within days; soft diet continues for weeks.

02

Osseointegration takes roughly 3–6 months before the final bridge.

03

Smoking slows healing and increases the risk of implant failure.

Results and recovery vary from person to person. No outcome can be guaranteed.

Risks & considerations

Potential benefits

  • Fixed, stable teeth for eating and speaking
  • Chewing forces shared across six support points
  • Often avoids extensive bone grafting
  • A temporary fixed bridge is usually possible early on

Risks & considerations

  • Infection, bleeding and anaesthesia-related risks
  • Implant failure risk, higher with smoking or uncontrolled diabetes
  • The bridge may need maintenance or replacement over time
  • Requires more bone volume than All-on-4 in some regions of the jaw
